Designer Quality, Value Pricing

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Throughout our new online catalog you will notice the icon that states “Designer Quality, Value Pricing.”

We have remained in business for fifty years because we believe in the philosophy that “Customers dictate to us.  We don’t dictate to customers.”  What customers are telling us is thay they want Designer quality and styling, but they don’t want to pay a premium price just to support a “name”. Our response has been the development of our own private labels:  Copper Canyon, Catalyst, Eddie D, and Ossomani.

Merchandise carrying our labels are guaranteed for fit, quality, and value.  We will replace or refund any of our private label merchandise that the customer feels does not stand up to our superior performance claim.

Sportcoat Sizing

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

One of our highest percentage return areas is the sportcoat category. Because of all the different body types and sportcoat models available, it can be very difficult to select the right size online. Here are a few tips to make sportcoat size selection a little easier.

Determine body type and length:

Regular-about 5′8″ to 5′11″

Long-about 6′0″ to 6′3″

Xlong-about 6′4″ to 6′7″

Determine the drop (The difference between chest and actual waist size. Not necessarily where the pants are worn but where they should be worn, above the hips)

The average American has about a 4-6″ drop.

A portly is about a 0-2″ drop. (The chest and waist are about the same.)

Athletic is about 8-10″ drop (Off the rack Athletic cuts are very rare these days.)

To measure the chest wrap a measuring tape around the chest going under the armpits.

Don’t pull the tape too tight. Keep it comfortably loose.

Measure the waist in a similar manner, above the hip bone.

Measure the sleeve length. Start at the center of the back of the shoulder and measure along the outside edge of the arm until you get to where the hand and wrist meet. Don’t forget to allow for the bend in the elbow.

Generally a regular has about a 32-33″ sleeve.

A long about 34-36″ sleeve.

An X long about 37-38″sleeve.

Sportcoats are usually available in the following sizes. (Not all manufacturers offer a complete size run so check the size availability for the the particular style you want):

44-60 Xlong

48-60 Long

48-60 Regular

48-60 Portly regular

48-60 Portly long

By using the above tips, you will be able to more accurately measure for sportcoat fit, and have a better chance of getting it right the first time.

Monday, December 17th, 2007

The purpose of Dahles.com is to offer big and/or tall customers a cross section of quality, value oriented, men’s fashions in sizes lt-6xt and 2xb-7xb.

Our goal has never been to be the cheapest. There is no limit to the bottom. However, our goal IS to make sure our customers feel they get their money’s worth…both in merchandise and service.

We target two main groups of customers:

Group one is the traditional menswear customer. 30 to 60, active life style, occasional need for dress clothes but likes to dress casual as much as possible, and demands quality merchandise.

Group two is our developmental group, ages 18 to 28. This group demands cool looking performance oriented clothing. We are doing constant market research to give this group the updated looks they want.
